Morgan County Schools
The Morgan County School System has eight schools. Schools that are located in the communities of Coalfield, Oakdale, and Sunbright are K thru 12 schools. Wartburg, the county seat, has separate facilities that house a K thru 5 elementary school, a 6 thru 8 middle school, and a separate 9 thru 12 high school. The Petros-Joyner school is a K thru 8 facility that serves as a feeder school for both Coalfield and Wartburg Central High. The Career and Technical Center, located on the eastern edge of Wartburg, serves all of the high school students in Morgan County.
Over 3,300 students attend the county's schools. A comprehensive building-renovation program was completed in 2004.
